The Ultimate Yacht Rock Experience

Smooth sailing, tight harmonies and a horn section in captain’s hats. When After Party changes gears, the blazers come out and the seventies come back.

The Story

Same band. Different latitude.

Somewhere between the second cocktail and the last light on the water, After Party takes off the black tie, puts on the captain’s hat, and becomes Haul ’N Boats.

It started as a joke and stopped being one the first time a room full of people lost their minds over a note-perfect “What a Fool Believes.” Yacht rock is the most deceptively difficult catalogue in popular music — jazz chords hiding inside pop songs, four-part harmony stacked over horn charts that leave nowhere to hide. Most tribute acts approximate it. This one plays it.

That’s the whole trick: the same players who spend their year filling dance floors as After Party already have the chops this music demands. The 504 Horns handle the charts. The vocalists handle the harmonies. The aviators and the blazers handle everything else.

Book it as a full evening, or as the set that stops the room before the party band takes over. Either way, nobody expects the captain’s hats — and nobody forgets them.

Yacht Rock FAQ

Before you set sail

Same musicians, same horn section, different wardrobe. Haul ’N Boats is After Party’s yacht rock alter ego — which is exactly why it works. This catalogue is deceptively hard to play, and it needs players who can actually handle the changes and the harmonies.

Yes, and it is one of the most requested formats. The band opens in blazers and captain’s hats for a yacht rock set, then changes and comes back as After Party for the rest of the night. One booking, two shows, one very memorable reveal.

Typically eight to ten pieces, because this material lives on horns, keys and stacked vocal harmonies. Smaller configurations are possible for intimate rooms — ask and we’ll advise.

Both, on purpose. The captain’s hats and the deadpan are half the fun, but the playing is straight and it is note-accurate. The joke is the packaging; the music is not a joke.

Corporate parties and conventions love it, and so do milestone birthdays, yacht clubs, marina and waterfront events, themed galas and festivals. It travels anywhere After Party travels.

Always. If your must-play is in the yacht rock canon and it isn’t on the list, get it to us four weeks out and we’ll chart it.
